Way back in the decade of the 70's, nobody said "craps game", "craps table", "craps dealer"...it was always CRAP, minus the S. According to the experts of the old school, it sounded more natural than today's "craps". Well, I beg to disagree, but what is the point over arguing? (The term there is "generation gap" what else? Don't get me wrong, I am old too, but during that decade, I had zero knowledge on the game).
Over the decades, countless books have been written on craps (see, I use the modern form?), and for a long time now, "craps" is the more prevalent form. Let's go to "craps dealer" as a term, so many dealers nowadays insist on calling themselves as dice dealers. Some writers too refer to them in the same way but for me, hey, what the hell? It is one thing not worth arguing about. I mean, when you say "dice dealer" in the context of the
casino setting, what else would one think about? It is craps of course, in all the years and years I have been patronizing casinos, I have not once seen a "dice dealer" well, dealing on a game of Monopoly.
So...as a last word, whether you were born just 20 years ago or 200 years ago, whether you want to say "crap" or "craps" or "crapsssss...", hey, forget the debate. As long as we are referring to the same game, then we understand each other- that is what counts.
